I WANT TO SUPPORT RECALL NELSON

John Nelson, Franklin Mayor has failed the citizens of Franklin and is unfit to hold the office of Mayor. Current leadership has failed you and me. We need a change. That's why we need to RECALL JOHN NELSON.

Current leadership rarely welcomes new or different ideas. Lots of bright and experienced officials and volunteers have walked away from City Hall as a result. They were exhausted and frustrated.

Current leadership often has facilitated or promoted obstruction, inefficiency and secrecy. Conflict, tension, ethics complaints and lawsuits have followed.

Nelson is a professional law enforcement officer. He claimed to have the experience to develop and promote policies designed to keep Franklin families, seniors, children and businesses safe.  Yet he has done nothing to show it.

Nelson claimed I won’t recklessly use my authority to manipulate the system to get my way.  Well Mr. Nelson....enough said.

And, perhaps most importantly, I will restore a positive structure at city hall for citizens, developers and employees alike.  Yes Mr. Nelson you have developed a positive structure for the ROC but no one else receives that "Favored Treatment"

These were Candidate Nelson's 2023 promises to the Franklin Residents if he was elected.  Nelson has let the City and the Residents of Franklin Down.

It is alleged in transcripts, emails, and investigations Nelson is not trustworthy, is a womanizer, is vindictive, is a "creeper" and a "psychopathic preditor".

Nelson is afraid of transparency and does not want public records released, much less records that expose Nelson's corruption.  Nelson blocks "any body” from getting the file because he is afraid it will be put in the blog and made public".  "Look at the scandal". "Everybody cares".

A 227-page transcript details an investigation conducted by an outside firm into accusations against Nelson. The allegations include claims of sexual harassment against female officers, showing inappropriate photos of women to colleagues, untruthful time records, campaigning and doing Franklin business while on duty as a Waterford officer, just to name a few.  These allegations were substantiated by a separate Waterford police officer in addition to a part-time Waterford Detective.

According to a Facebook post made by Robert Ulander, Waterford Town Supervisor on "Robert Ulander for Waterford Town Board" on November 27, 2024 at 7:15am:

The day of Lt. Nelson’s interview, he arrived with a large tote. He was not there to clear out his desk. He was there searching for documents for one of the ongoing investigations. This is exactly why everyone was instructed that he was not to have access to non-public areas of the building. He gained access prior to his interview and left his tote behind, having been unable to find the sought after documents. Following the interview, when he went to retrieve his tote, the clerk of 25 years, who had been reminded twice that day not to, opened the door and let him in. She even suggested she would be willing to help him find the documents he had been looking for. "

On March 17, 2025 John Nelson, The City of Franklin, Michelle Eichmann along with Supervisors Steve Taylor and Kathleen Vincent were named in a Civil Rights Lawsuit filed with the US Eastern District Court of Wisconsin. The suit claims that these individuals violated the First Amendment Due Process Rights of the Publisher of Franklin Community News. The publisher claims he was retaliated by these individuals for publishing blogs exposing corruption in Franklin, making public comment at Franklin common Council Meetings, and filing ethics complaints against the named individuals.

In an interview conducted with Nelson by WTMJ Ben Jordan on April 24, 2025, Jordan indicates:

"TMJ4 is now awaiting records from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, where Nelson worked for more than two decades. Nelson admits he was investigated for alleged sexual harassment and allegedly cheating on an exam while employed there. Nelson adamantly denies those allegations as well and says he was never disciplined."

Dan O'Donnell reported on April 23, 2025 “Franklin Mayor John Nelson allegedly engaged in a pattern of extreme misconduct while working as a Town of Waterford Police officer.”

John Nelson was elected to serve and be the front man for Ballpark Commons and Rock Ventures. Nelsons campaign team two years ago led by County Supervisor Taylor/ROC Foundation Executive Director, Mike Zimmerman, ROC CEO, Kelly Hersh, now City of Franklin Director of Administration (former lead in law suit against Franklin for Strauss which was heard by Judge Hannah Dugan), and former Franklin Alderperson Kristen Wilhelm. Nelson since he has been elected has treated Ballpark Commons and Mike Zimmerman with preferential treatment then he has with any other business owner time and time again.  From working to waive sound restrictions and permit restrictions, allowing the ROC to maintain broken and faulty sound monitors, to allowing Zimmerman to cut a deal and pay 50% of what Zimmerman owes the city this year and 50% next year.  Is any other business owner afforded the same opportunity?

"On September 22, 2023 WISN reported that "The city of Franklin Mayor, John Nelson, called an emergency meeting with the owners of the Rock Sports Complex on Friday to come up with a concrete plan and timeline for addressing noise issues."  "A memo of understanding signaled that Roc Ventures was prepared to compromise following the emergency, closed-door meeting at the Rock Sports Complex."

"We have identified the issues, we are going to put together a timeline, and then that timeline will be held by Mr. Zimmerman," said city of Franklin Mayor John Nelson."

It is reported that County Supervisor Taylor, Executive Director of the ROC Foundation was present at the closed door meeting.  Why was Taylor the Director of the ROC Foundation at the closed door meeting?  Noting has happened as a result of the special meeting that has benefited the residents of Franklin.

What is the process for a Mayoral Recall in Wisconsin (§9.01)

The qualified electors of the state, of any county, city, village, or town, of any congressional, legislative, judicial, town sanitary, or school district, or of any prosecutorial unit may petition for the recall of any incumbent elective official by filing a petition with the same official or agency with whom nomination papers or declarations of candidacy for the office are filed demanding the recall of the officeholder.

A petition for recall of an officer shall be signed by electors equal to at least 25 percent of the vote cast for the office of governor at the last election within the same district or territory as that of the officeholder being recalled.  FOR A NELSON RECALL that would be 2100 SIGNATURES IN 60 DAYS!

The official against whom the recall petition is filed NELSON shall be a candidate at the recall election without nomination unless the official resigns within 10 days after the date of the certificate. Candidates for the office may be nominated under the usual procedure of nomination for a special election by filing nomination papers or declarations of candidacy not later than 5 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday preceding the election and have their names placed on the ballot at the recall election.

If more than 2 persons compete for an office, a recall primary shall be held. The names of the 2 persons receiving the highest number of votes in the recall primary shall be certified to appear on the ballot in the recall election, but if any person receives a majority of the total number of votes cast in the recall primary, a recall election shall not be held. If the incumbent receives a majority of the votes cast, the incumbent shall be retained in office for the remainder of the term. If another candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, that candidate shall be elected to serve for the residue of the unexpired term of the incumbent. Write-in votes are permitted only at a recall primary or at a recall election in which no primary is held.

If a recall primary is required, the date specified under par. (d) shall be the date of the recall primary and the recall election shall be held on the Tuesday of the 4th week commencing after the recall primary or, if that Tuesday is a legal holiday, on the first day after that Tuesday which is not a legal holiday.

The official against whom a recall petition has been filed shall continue to perform the duties of his or her office until a certificate of election is issued to his or her successor. The person receiving a plurality of votes at the recall election or a majority of votes at a primary when authorized under sub. (3) (d) or (4) (f) shall be declared elected for the remainder of the term. If the incumbent receives the required number of votes he or she shall continue in office. Except as provided in sub. (4) (f), if another person receives the required number of votes that person shall succeed the incumbent if he or she qualifies within 10 days after receiving a certificate of election.
