Alderwoman Eichmann - Bought and Paid for by the "Rat Pack"
The Mayor and his administration made some technological changes to how City officials, employees, and the public use the City of Franklin internet and access their information including email. It appears this change was not effectively communicated the next day leaving some alderpersons unable to access the City of Franklin email and respond to their constituents.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, the Franklin Common Council went into a closed session to discuss the following:
General Cyberattack and Technological Crimes Prevention Strategy. The Common Council may enter closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. $ 19.85(1)d ), to consider strategy for crime prevention, and the furtherance of the program and policy and tools therefore for crime prevention, i.e., cyberattack prevention and technological crimes in relation thereto, for the protection of the City's technical and information infrastructure and the City officials, employees and the public who use the system, and to reenter open session at the same place thereafter to act on such matters discussed therein as it deems appropriate.
Franklin District 4 Alderwoman Courtney Day posted the following on Friday, September 6, 2024, on the Franklin Area Community Page, informing her constituents of her inability to remotely access the City of Franklin email since the change went into effect and her inability to provide an effective, timely response.
One might think that before rolling out a technology change a communication would be sent to all of the stakeholders informing them of the technology access change and what users need to do to access the technology (email server). It appears that like most other major government organizations Franklin has now moved, for the right reasons to a two-step authentication process to access franklin.gov. Most organizations that have made the change EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATE the rollout and migration to the new two-factor authentication.
The two-factor authentication process is to either have an employee-provided FOB that generates an access code each time an authorized user logs in or linked to the user's cell phone where they receive an authorized user code texted to them each time they log in to authenticate they are who they are logging in as. Apparently, Alderwoman Day did not receive either the communication from the City Administration nor did she receive the new process to log in. FAILED COMMUNICATION on the part of the City Administration.
Nick Kurutz, a well-known supporter of Mayor Nelson and Alderwoman Eichmann, makes this post in response to Alderwoman Day's courtesy post to her constituents. Essentially, they are trying to call out Alderwoman Day for omitting facts and are now trying to put a "spin" on the issue by making a FALSE accusation.
Below is the post that Kurutz provided to Day (above). This post was in the initial thread and Kurutz does not indicate where it is taken from. You now have snarky Alderwoman Eichmann trying to put her "spin" on the topic and Kurutz jumping in to help when Eichmann knows quite well that Day does not have access and is intentionally trying to make Day look bad.
Below is the response from Day to Kurutz, the proxy for Eichmann and Nelson.
It is a shame that the City of Franklin Administration cannot effectively communicate a technology change or execute a well-thought-out plan of two-factor authentication. Instead, Alderwoman Eichmann, bought and paid for by Nelson, Zimmerman, and Taylor, tries to spin a non-issue to make another colleague look bad. This continues to show how ineffective Eichmann is and how she is lacking in any morals, integrity, or character and is beholden to the corruption in Franklin.
THANK YOU Alderwoman Day for trying to effectively communicate with your constituents and working on their behalf. That's more than we can say about District 2 Alderperson Eichmann who has her own agenda which is not the agenda for the Citizens of Franklin, it is the agenda of the "Rat Pack".
